about cherida lally

Cherida Lally, Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), moved from Brooklyn in 2019 and is thrilled to have escaped the city and to have joined the Coastal OBGYN team and her neighbors in the greater surrounding community. She has been practicing as a midwife and taking care of women and mothers in Brooklyn and the Bronx for the past 22 years where she happily presided over the births of over 1,500 babies. In 2018 she stopped delivering babies but has continued caring for pregnant women as well working in other aspects of Women’s Health.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Sarah Lawrence College and a Masters Degree in Linguistics from New York University, and originally worked as a language teacher, teaching English as a Second Language and Italian. However, she was drawn to the vocation of midwifery after being inspired by the midwife assisted birth of her two sons. Studying midwifery was a challenging undertaking for a mother with two small children, but she earned her Masters in Nurse Midwifery at Columbia University in 1997 and has never looked back.

Cherida is fluent in both Italian and Spanish (in addition to English). Answering patient’s questions and discussing their concerns comes naturally to her, having spent so many years as a teacher. She truly loves taking care of women, listening to them and helping them achieve their personal goals on their own journeys in sexual and reproductive health.
